Wise Media’s Digital Economy Checkpoint’s two-day international think tank on Eco-Smart Cities took place on October 22 and 23, in Italy, with working sessions organized in Genova and Savona aboard the flagship vessel of Costa Crociere’s fleet of cruise ships, Costa Smeralda.
The two-day thought leadership symposium was organized to discuss eco-smart technologies, policies and methodologies for eco-smart urban development, with high-profile representatives of the global community of pioneering technology innovators in digital transformation.
“Organizing a high-profile event at a specific moment in time where social distancing, Covid testing and uncertain regulations due to the pandemic created such a challenge, so we were see more than grateful for the international attention from decision-makers and top industry players who attended the DEC initiative – both physically and remotely,” says Wise Media President, Sophie Boyer de la Giroday.
“Guests – even vaccinated – had to do both PCR tests and rapid flow tests to gain access to the event location and ship, but all went well and everybody participated eagerly – happy to be at a live event after 18 months of virtual participation.”
International delegates gathered in Genoa to contribute to a high-profile debate on the evolution of the smart building concept in the context of sustainable urban development, offering practical insight to foster the adoption of best practices in digital transformation and environment-friendly modernisation. Other high profile speakers joined the conference virtually with presentations beaming in from around the world.
Organized with the Future Cities Working Group of the Sustainability Summit and members of the Ultimatum Community, Eco-Smart Cities 2021 opened its doors as the annual appointment of the Digital Economy Checkpoint to a globally representative audience, as well as senior representatives of Costa Crociere (Carnival Corporation).
